Follow these tips to increase profits and grow your business.

Prioritize Your Leads
Classify your A, B and C leads in terms of the revenue they can produce. Each company needs large, medium and small clients. Always go after your large prospects first, but pursue small and medium clients simultaneously. Larger deals usually require more time and effort to close. In the interim, smaller customers can provide the cash flow you need to maintain and grow your business. The total gross revenue of your smaller clients may even be greater than that of your larger ones.

Pursue Profitable Industries
Do your research. Find out which industries have been labeled “recession-proof” and those that are growing in spite of the economy. There are numerous case studies available on this topic. A good indicator of growth is if an industry is hiring, rather than firing employees. Focus your business on these segments and make sure to diversify. If your products and services are tailored to a specific industry, try modifying or expanding your offerings. And, if your target audience has been negatively affected by the recession, find a way to market yourself to other segments.

Don’t Lower Your Prices
Price reduction is not an effective growth strategy. There will always be companies that offer the same services at lower prices. Instead, explain to clients what makes your offerings unique. Convince prospects that you can provide the best possible service in your market. Intelligent customers realize that they get what they pay for, so don’t rely on competitive pricing. Now more than ever, the key to closing a deal is quality and service. Make the customer feel like they’re getting more than they paid for, while charging all that your worth.

No Regrets!

Pure bliss

Pure bliss

Being from Maui, I’ve absorbed what the meaning of the aloha spirit really means. You give more than you take, and you treat everyone like family, like your own ohana. We’re all connected and responsible for each other. It’s a loving way to live your life. It infuses creativity and vitality in your day to day and encourages gratitude.

That’s how I tried to treat my business; all my clients and employees were family. I also tried to challenge myself and exceed my business goals and take it to a new height.  It’s also like watching your children grow up and create their own rich life that far exceeds the dreams you dreamt for them.

As for myself, I made my own way in life the best I knew at the time, which is probably why I always want the best for everybody. Looking back I should ‘a, could ‘a, would ‘a, doesn’t matter. I’m a work in progress, we all are. If it wasn’t for the mistakes that I have made, I would not have persevered and conquered some of my hardest challenges. So, if I can show other people a path to accomplish their dreams by starting their own business and they learn to do it faster, better and more successful than I did, then right on, I’m stoked.

I just hope we all remember that it’s our belief in ourselves that brought us to this path of entrepreneurship in the first place. That same high level of confidence and self esteem will also propel us forward when we are faced with obstacles and negativity. So, when a client disagrees with your methods, argues for a cheaper rate, complains of poor service and generally treats you as if you’re less than, ho’omanao, remember your truth and inner promise to yourself that you won’t let anyone cause self-doubt. Trust your choices and your wisdom and assume that their negativity is like a sickness that consumes them. It is not your reality, or what consumes you, so carry on and let them go if you cannot compromise toward a solution. Live true and live without regret.

Aloooooohaaaa!

Become Your Own Life Coach

If you want more in life, you just have to make the decision. Everyday we make choices. These choices have shaped and designed our experiences up to this point. This very moment is brand new, with unlimited potential and energy just waiting for a thought to take form, an emotion to surge through our nervous system that begins to attract and manifest that very reality that’s based on that one particular thought.

So, whenever I want to make a change or break a bad habit, I have to change my thinking first. The rest naturally falls into place, don’t worry about the how’s and the when’s. Remember, today is yesterdays thoughts. Right now, you can create a happy new world, a new reality and a new life starting this moment; begin with choosing a new thought and let it grow. Tomorrow will show you your results, just keep at it.

Take it easy, but take it!
