May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii!
Hawaii’s Lei Day Festival includes lei-making contests, games, crafts and food. Afterwards, the finished leis are taken to the tombs of the royal ali’i as offerings. The Great Kamehameha can hold thousands of leis and proudly displays them with grace. May 1, 1928, was the first Lei Day of Hawaii, honoring the art and history of making lei’s. Hawaii loves her holidays and festivities!
